Irish post-punk band The Murder Capital brought energy and passion to Manchester's Albert Hall, kicking off the UK leg of their European tour.

Originating from various parts of Ireland, but forming officially in Dublin, The Murder Capital have been compared to the likes of post-punk heavyweights Idles and Shame, as well as fellow Irish band Fontaines D.C. Combining influences, The Murder Capital have discovered their own sound and following, which led them to their hugely well received sophomore album, Gigi's Recovery.

After support from Heavy Lungs, the band began their set with "Crying", followed by "Return My Head". With one of the most lively crowds I've ever encountered, each audience member was involved in the performance, the excitement only growing when singer James McGovern dropped down into the pit, crowd-surfing, bringing the experience to touching distance.

Damien Tuit, Cathal Roper, Gabriel Paschal Blake and Diarmuid Brennan make up the rest of the quintet, each adding their own element to the show, as the set continued with "On Twisted Ground" and "The Lies Become The Self".

Filling the atmospheric Albert Hall with energetic vibrations, the room pulsed with post-punk passion, both from the musicians and their fans, through "Only Good Things" and "Don't Cling to Life", before ending the night with "Ethel".
