Knocked Loose at the Manchester Academy.

By Anya Baxter and Jim Blunt.

On Wednesday night, we were lucky enough to witness hardcore heavyweights Knocked Loose as they played their biggest headline show to date. The night saw what felt like half the population of Manchester come together in one of the most passionate concerts we have ever attended.

Following support from Headbusa and Deafheaven, the crowd were begging for Knocked Loose to take the stage. Chanting and screaming welcomed the 5 piece as they opened with "Deep in the Willow". And so began the crowd surfers. The energetic crowd became a wave of people, sending person after person into the air, having the time of their lives. Driven by frontman Bryan Garris, the night saw the crowd only grow in their enthusiasm. "Where Light Divides the Holler" and "God Knows" followed.

Having been active as a band for now over ten years, Kentucky based Knocked Loose have developed a crew of dedicated, passionate fans, and seeing their faces and excitement up close was incredible. The higher tone of Garris' voice, combined with the deeper boom of Isaac Hale creates a unique sound that covers multiple metal genres, finding its home in hardcore. The setlist continues with "Oblivion's Peak" and "Blinding Faith", the band's latest offering and first taste of upcoming album You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To. And of course, the fans knew this new song as well as any. "All My Friends" saw Malevolence's Alex Taylor join the party, for a mashup of hardcore favourites. Ending the night with "Everything Is Quiet Now", the exhausted but elated crowd gave their final energies, got in their final crowd surfs, and screamed until their throats were raw.

This show was a testament to the future of Knocked Loose. Their biggest headline to date, yes, but it is sure to be topped on their next tour, and we look forward to keeping up with their work.
