Australian electro pop band Confidence Man delivered an electrically energetic performance and brought the life of the party to Liverpool's Academy. From any place in the audience, their set made for a night to remember.

The four-piece is led by siblings Janet Planet and Sugar Bones, who arrived on stage wearing Tim Burton-esque blazers, following a DJ set from duo Raw Silk to get the crowd in the mood. The blazers were quite the statement piece as neither singer stopped moving for a second, making this one of the most exciting performances I have witnessed.

Opening the set with hit "Toy Boy", straight from their latest album TILT, the venue lit up and came to life with bodies moving and people having the time of their lives. Following this came "Out the Window" and "Woman", where the siblings broke out into a synchronised dance routine during an instrumental break.

Janet Planet was born to be on a stage, and I was completely captivated by her performance and every movement. Her brother is no less of a star, and the two worked together to transform the room into an explosive, colourful blowout. Next on the setlist came "What I Like", a party track like no other. Confidence Man bring a new level of electro fun to the dance genre, and I can't get enough. The chart-featured "Holiday" was the highlight of the gig as the audience forgot their troubles and gave into the music.

Every song in their setlist is a smash, from 2018's "Don't You Know I'm In a Band" to the more recent "Feels Like a Different Thing" and "Break It Bought It". The performance saw multiple eye-catching outfit changes and dance routines to impress any audience, and even a Bryan Adams cover. A confetti explosion sealed in the party and I'm sure every crowd member left only getting started.

Confidence Man are without a doubt a force to be reckoned with, and live they are even more of a success. TILT has become one of my favourite albums of 2022, and I can't wait to see them perform again down the line. It's clear to me that from the level of commitment to this performance, they are a band who work incredibly hard at their craft, particularly the live element, and they deserve every bit of success they will receive.
