Bob Vylan at the O2 Ritz, Manchester.

By Anya Baxter and Jim Blunt.

Dynamic punk duo Bob Vylan brought their passion to Manchester, in what made for a great night. After seeing these two close out Rebellion Punk Festival earlier this year, we absolutely had to catch them again, this time on their headline tour. And it all began with some light stretching.

Unlike anything else, Bob Vylan put on a one of a kind performance every time. The two Bobs are incredibly humble, despite their stellar craft and growing successes, and repeatedly bring their performances back to important issues happening across the globe. From the horrors happening in Palestine right now, leading to the crowd descending into a "Free Palestine!" chant, heartily and tenaciosuly led by the duo, to a moment for women's rights, asking the men to step back for the women in the audience to open up a pit. Bob Vylan also discuss through their music and words, their personal experiences with racism. The duo are truly fearless, or rather, are unafraid to put the greater good of humanity ahead of discussing things like their new album (which will be with us January 20th, 2024).

It can often feel like punk is being left behind with the bands of the past. It's bands like Bob Vylan who are carrying the punk movement forward, in a whole new style and creative exploration of the genre. Punk has often been used as a voice for the people, a chance to rebel against politics and the government for what we really think, and this is something that Bob Vylan have maintained in their music, and that was evident on Friday night.

With their new songs living up to the standards of the old, I cannot wait for the new album, and everything to come after. A phenomenal night, enjoyed by everyone in the venue. Bob Vylan have an incredibly bright future, and are truly destined for greatness.
